Enjoy a moving performance by Singers in Accord of music from Minnesota composers Grundahl, Hagen, Jennings, Kallman, Runestad, Schut, Takach, and Wehrspann — weaving together song, poetry, and sculpture to explore our shared human experience.
Led by guest conductor Sigrid Johnson, featuring narration by poet David Bengtson and images of sculptures by Paul Granlund.
Sigrid Johnson
Sigrid Johnson received a BM in vocal performance from St. Cloud State University and an MM in voice performance from the University of Michigan. After 30 years on faculty with the prestigious St. Olaf College music department, she retired as the conductor of the St. Olaf Manitou Singers in 2015. Before her appointment at St. Olaf, she was on the music faculties of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter and at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Sigrid also served as the Associate Conductor of the Ensemble Singers and Chorus for VocalEssence from 1991- 2015. Ms. Johnson has conducted the National Lutheran Choir and served as Conductor of the Dale Warland Symphonic Chorus and the Associate Conductor of the Dale Warland Singers. She is a member of the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA), Music Educators National Conference (MENC), the International Federation for Choral Music, and Chorus America. In 2007, Sigrid was the recipient of the F. Melius Christiansen Award, the ACDA of Minnesotas highest lifetime achievement honor, given to a Minnesota conductor whose career has provided outstanding contributions and distinguished service to choral music in Minnesota.
