Shekela is a rising star in the Minnesota choral community. Originally from Minneapolis, she has degrees from Temple University (Philadelphia), University of Minnesota, and is currently a DMA student at the University of Minnesota. In addition to work as an active professional conductor, singer and educator, Shekela’s scholarship explores community engagement, inclusion and equity in the choral rehearsal, global folk and contemporary classical music, and innovative choral programming.
